Self-Portrait in Transit is an examination of a person's place in life: the coming to terms with one's mortality. The subject is an artist so certain elements of the painting evoke past traditions of oil painting: the artist's smock and the dark umber tones of the capsule she is in. Present day technology surrounds her. Lights dance above her head. We transition from matter to light.
